Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration is leveraging the state's geographical advantages, established industrial base, and ongoing infrastructure development to attract both local and international investment. The strategy aims to position Ogun as a major hub for manufacturing, maritime trade, logistics, energy, and industrial production, moving beyond its traditional reliance on proximity to Lagos.

A significant development in this drive is the memorandum of understanding signed with DP World MEA FZE for the Gateway Deep Sea Port and the Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone. This project, with an initial investment of over $7 billion, is expected to create more than 50,000 direct jobs and enhance Nigeria's maritime, logistics, and industrial capacity. Construction is slated to begin in November 2026.

The revival of the OgunLNG project adds a substantial $10 billion energy dimension to the state's industrial ambitions, with the NNPC proposing this initial investment. These initiatives, combined with over 1,600 kilometers of roads constructed or rehabilitated since 2019, the Gateway Agro-Cargo International Airport, and improved rail connectivity, underscore Ogun's growing industrial aspirations.
